We then readdressed the overall flow of the piece, and I suggested sitting slightly behind the beat of the song, and demonstrated with a video of a drummer showing how to play behind and in front of the beat depending on style (Roland Canada, 2013). In order to combat this, DOE first refined his lyrics, cutting some additional words out to leave them feeling less cluttered. We identified that although the vocal was in time with the track, it did not sit easily throughout and felt rushed over a very laid back beat. In the studio this week, DOE and I reflected on our progress on the track so far.
